Sewing Classes

The in-house sewing and drafting training program in Pakistan continues to produce successful graduates who now earn their own income and help support their families. The women who are training at FBL also care for their children and/or elderly parents at home, hoping to generate enough income to support them and improve their overall quality of life.

Most graduates earn between 1,000 to 10,000 rupees per month, depending on the quality and craftsmanship of the fabric they are using.

Empowering Women

On September 22, the chairman of FBL, Jalal Sultan opened Jiwani Heights Training Centre in Pakistan. This institute teaches women stitching, embroidery and fashion design at a cost of Rs. 300 per month. It works under the chairman's NGO, The Foundation for a Better Life. Its first batch had 30 women, 22 from Jiwani Heights and 8 from the Ali Complex, situated right across.

A formal opening was held inside the apartment building where the women could stitch a complete outfit from scratch.

The first woman judge of a high court in Pakistan, retired Justice Majida Razvi was the chief guest at the opening ceremony.

Fashion Design Training

FBL's first fashion design course began in February 2014. It consists of 12 months training and 2 months internship with clothing manufacturers and boutiques. Thirteen students have graduated and are now working and earning up to Rs. 30,000 per month.

Eight additional students have enrolled in the Fashion Design program in 2015 and are scheduled to graduate in 2016.

Vocational Training

FBL continues to offer assistance to students who wish to attend vocational school and encourages them to pursue their individual interest.

Courses include ADIT, CIT, accounting and computer training.

Nursing Scholarship

Recently, FBL began a program offering tuition assistance to students who desire a career in nursing.

"The program is currently supporting thirty students."


The program is currently supporting thirty students, each of whom receives a scholarship based on household income and family size.
